One of Barcelona's quirkiest and weirdest museum experiences: Museu de Carosses Funebres. Way-out in terms of location (Metro stop Marina), setting (in the basement of a large undertakers') and content (a marvellous collection of nineteenth and twentieth century funerary carriages, complete with mannequins). From the elevator ride in the company of a burly female security guard, through the clunk and clicks of the lighting coming on throughout the basement, to the somewhat eerie but at the same time comical atmosphere, this is not to be missed!
