One of the monumental testaments to the late 19th century and early 20th century arts scene, Els Quatre Gats bar. Picasso was one of the main patrons of this bar, located on the ground-floor of the neo-gothic Casa Marti, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The interior is beautiful: muted browns and yellows predominate, off-set against a vibrant lime-green. Peculiarly enough, the bar now seems to be owned and staffed by an exclusively Asian collective, which I find detracts slightly from its otherwise authentic flavour.
