Yes, I know, it looks like we're leaving Saba, not just arriving. Well, you're right, but I didn't have a good picture of our arrival, so this will have to do (bear with me...). As any visitor of Saba can tell you, landing on the island is quite an adventure: your little nineteen-seater plane basically has to smack down on the airstrip (that resembles a little plaster stretched across a green tendon) for lack of runway-length. At 440 feet, the airstrip is one of the shortest commercial airstrips in the world! Luckily the pilots are specially trained for this landing, and we were down in no-time and in one piece. Our sojourn on Saba had started! |
